Treasury says Iran tried to put a toll booth on the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Treasury says Iran tried to turn the Strait of Hormuz into a shakedown lane. It sanctioned a so-called Persian Gulf Strait Authority, warning ships and banks that “toll” payments could mean IRGC trouble. Apparently global shipping wasn’t stressful enough without a cash-only booth at the world’s oil doorway.
